About Us
Yukon Race Fleet has the largest fleet of race canoes and kayaks for the Yukon 1000 and Yukon River Quest races.
The fleet is run by Abi and Ric Horobin. We are originally from the UK; we moved to the Yukon in 2019. We moved here after visiting a couple of times to paddle the Yukon and then the Wind, Peel and Mackenzie. It’s safe to say we fell in love with the north. It has a habit of doing that to people.
We now live off-grid about 20 km down Tagish Lake at a wonderful remote wilderness lodge that we are renovating.
We know the Yukon River well having paddled it several times. We entered the Yukon River Quest in 2020 and 2021, the two years it was cancelled! We both got involved with the YRQ volunteering and Ric is now on the board and Abi has been both volunteer coordinator and patrol boat lead.
Time and time again, our boats take all lead positions in the Yukon 1000.
